Description
In this work on canvas, we are presented with a cheerful world of abstracted structures and interlocking shapes. Signed by ‘SBT’, the artist has explored the relationships between lines, angles and surfaces in a style reminiscent of the visual language of geometric abstraction.
The composition is neatly organised and although the painting is not symmetrical, there is a loose use of mirroring throughout the vertical shapes. This technique, along with the use of repetition, guides our eye to move up and down the canvas.
Although this painting can be considered primarily as an abstract work, the distinctive split between the richer blue hues of the lower section and pale tones of the top could suggest a horizon. These brightly coloured forms also bring to mind architectural structures.
