Description
In this vibrant, abstract composition, the artist’s love of colour is clear. Bursts of yellow and orange hues are complimented by punches of rich blues, expressing warmth and spontaneity. Blocks of colour in irregular shapes are built up in several layers, giving the forms softly defined edges and adding depth to the canvas. A loose grid composition adds structure and the visible bristle marks create movement, helping the eye to move around the painting.
Titled ‘Indian Summer’, this painting is by Danish artist Ole Trebbien (b 1944) and is a strong example of the style of painting that the artist is known for. His expressive use of colour and gestural use of paint could be considered as an appreciation for the painting style associated with Abstract Expressionism, a movement that explored abstraction as a means to express or elicit emotion through artistic works.
