Stovall trained under Hair and Livingston in their studios initially as a frame maker and a background painter. Jimmy holds the unusual distinction of being known as “The 27th Highwayman.” Although he is acknowledged by his peers as a true member of the group, he was in Miami after Hurricane Andrew and was not available to be interviewed for what would become a book about 26 painters of this ‘outsider art’ style.
