1977 Oil Painting by Lisa Kaas Hansen

Denmark-based artist Lisa Kaas Hansen originally trained as a porcelain painter. She studied in Stockholm under the guidance of artists Hanne Swane and Gerda Swane and throughout her career has exhibited at a number of cultural centres and arts associations in Denmark.

In this oil on canvas, the artist has brought together a colour palette of earthy tones and gestural paint marks to create an expressive and energetic composition. Rich, dark browns and dashes of icy blues and whites remind us of colours found in nature, suggesting that the artist is interested in observing and capturing the essence of the natural world.
