Description
Produced in and around the early 2000s, around the time that Dorte Breyen was exhibiting at Galleri Blidah, this painting feels both contemporary and traditional. As with much of the art produced during the mid-century in Scandinavia, Breyen’s piece is abstract, expressed with large, intentional brushstrokes. Yet, the colours used here – cool, steely shades of blue and grey, punctuated by yellow at times – feel far more modern, even mechanstic or industrial.
