1966 Oil Painting by Erik Jørgensen

$96.00

Description

Artist Erik Jørgensen (b. 1938) trained for three years at the Academy for Free and Mercantile Art in Copenhagen, with further education as the student of Danish artist Henning Møller. Jørgensen first exhibited his work in 1966 at Gallery Køge and went on to exhibit and sell his paintings throughout much of Europe, the USA and Australia.

In this oil on canvas, we are presented with a flurry of movement and speed. Energized dashes of red, yellow and earthy tones propel this abstract form into life, engaging our eye to dart around the canvas to try and keep up with its fluid path. This energetic and confident approach to applying paint can be seen in a number of works by the artist, where he often explored the boundaries between figurative painting and abstraction.
