1976 Oil Painting by Peter Skjøtt

Peter Skjøtt is a Danish artist who works in both watercolor and acrylic to explore the expressive qualities of paint. He initially trained in advertising illustration and then went on to produce his own paintings, as well as working as an art tutor for over 35 years, including teaching in Crete, the Netherlands and Italy.

In this oil on canvas, we immediately notice how the artist has captured the feeling of movement. Our eye initially focuses on the red sphere as our gaze sweeps upwards in a curved motion, exploring a world of warm hues and earthy tones. On the reverse of the canvas, the text reads Composition in between the Sun and the Moon.
