1978 Oil Painting by E.J.

This painting, by the anonymous E.J., is laden with texture and colour in a way that both conceals and builds itself around the subjects it so subtly depicts. A figure, sat to the left, is offset with a larger female nude to the centre; yet, the composition of oil paint makes it such that this is not immediately present to the onlooker. For all the energy and colour that the painting presents, it equally portrays two lone figures amidst all of the abstraction. In this way, E.J. is able to balance and finely tune senses of both chaos and quietude.
