1986’s Large Format Serigraph Created by Tonny Horning

$96.00

Description

Danish artist Tonny Horning was born in Granslev in 1941 and trained as a sign painter at the company Kama Skilte in Silkeborg. In the 1970s he co-founded the artist group NY ABSTRAKTION and in the following decades he went on to exhibit both throughout Denmark and globally.

The monochrome palette of this serigraph is a typical hallmark of work by Tonny Horning. The artist has often produced work in a large-scale format, creating imposing pieces that explore the dramatic nature of high contrast tones such as black and white.

The hard edges of the black and white blocks create a bold and confident statement, while the contrasting loose, organic marks convey a sense of rapid movement. While the abstract nature of this print is the predominant visual language, the three-dimensional forms convey an architectural quality that could remind us of urban structures and environments.

This print is the first edition of the total of 25 prints produced, numbered 1/25 and dated 1986.
