Description
Oil painting on canvas by Eva Beyer. Signed by the artist and dated 1979.
Eva Beyer (1921 – 2004) was born in Fredericksburg, but moved to Copenhagen – where she would spend the majority of her working life – with her family at a young age.
Postwar, she travelled widely in Europe, visiting France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and England. Her art has been widely exhibited in Europe, featuring prolifically in shows between 1969 and 1993. Inspired by nature and classical music, Beyer’s pieces repeatedly turn to abstraction as a mode of expression. The bright, explosive colours often borrow from the natural world, layering abundant greens and blues to create a depth and cohesion. This is acutely felt in this painting, where harmonic tones are broken up by flecks of orange and yellow.
