Description

Jens Kromann (1936-2016) was a Danish artist. He grew up in Middelfart, a town in central Denmark, before becoming a teacher. He worked as a teacher, before dedicating himself to his art later in his life. He has been widely exhibited across Europe, in both public buildings and in private galleries.

In an interview of 2015, Kromann talks about how the different places that he has lived in have, in turn, inspired his work. He makes connections between Spain, where he lived later in life, and Greenland, a major source of inspiration in his work. This can be felt intensely in this painting, where the cool blue tones evoke a glacial landscape. Abstract in its perspective, this painting is at once subtle and intense, soft and harsh.
