Description
Low back lounger with a padded frame newly upholstered in midnight blue felt wool.
Sits on a fumed oak base with turned legs.
Designed in 1956 by Poul Volther for Frem Møbelfabrik.
Training at the Arts and Crafts School in Copenhagen, Poul Volther (1923-2001) established a reputation for building simple, unfussy designs in quality and durable materials. He was Artist Director of FDB Møbler, a Danish furniture company responsible for numerous iconic designs that have, in recent years, been highly sought after and even re-issued.The timelessness of Volther’s work is embodied by this lounger, both in its classic silhouette and – more literally – in its sturdiness, a representation of the designer’s built-to-last outlook.
